Mandate of the Directorate
The Directorate of Media, Communications and Public Relations is responsible for all media and communications activities of the Authority, internally and externally. It support the successful implementation of the Authority’s internal and external communications strategies, with the primary mandate to create a broad base communication awareness of NSA activities, while ensuring the objectives of public relations: visibility, credibility and acceptability are achieved.
The Media and Communications directorate develops and maintains a robust communication framework that ensures messages of the Authority are relevant, accurate, timely, credible, factual, clear, verified and consistent. It effectively coordinates communication activities across all sporting disciplines, different departments within the agency, government institutions, private and development partners, and local government/councils, and other relevant institutions or individuals relating to sports. The directorate fosters transparency and build public trust in the NSA.
This division is also responsible for coordinating/facilitating special events like press conferences, press releases, press briefings, interviews, media cocktails, awards ceremonies, analyzing messages and collecting feedbacks and report to management with recommendations, workshops, seminars, and trainings. It builds and maintains media relationships at all times.
Eventually, the Directorate is the principal adviser to the Authority on all media and communications related activities, and it plays a critical role in winning public confidence on the overall operations of the Authority. He/she positions the NSA as a professional, responsive, and trusted Sierra Leone’s only regulatory sports agency.
