OUR PURPOSE
Our purpose is to improve sports in Sierra Leone and enable mass participation by Sierra Leoneans to succeed in all sports competitions at national and international levels. We inspire and transform Sierra Leone through sport, reach out to all communities, schools, universities, and colleges, and integrate other sectors into sport programs and activities.
Our Mission
We take the lead to provide a legitimate and orderly avenue for the overall development in the Sports Sector, that will ensure good governance, effective management and efficient coordination of sports, clarity of roles, sporting excellence and mass participation for both the abled and disabled, in a gender balanced society that surmounts all political barriers.
We also work to promote our National Identity, Friendship, Religious Tolerance, and National Pride to world-class standards through continued improvement, putting Sierra Leone’s sport among the Elites, both in Africa and the World.
Our Vision
Our vision is to ensure that, by 2030, Sierra Leone has a well-established sports governance system and is well-resourced to promote and develop sports as an industry, equipped with the requisite professional resources, both human and material. A system that will enhance nationwide and international competencies in promoting sporting excellence among youths and young adults, including the physical health and well-being of Sierra Leoneans.
Ojectives, Functions and Powers of the Authority
The object for which the Authority is established is to:
- Provide leadership in the development of sports in Sierra Leone.
- Encourage participation of Sierra Leoneans in sports.
- Provide resources, services and facilities to enable Sierra Leoneans to pursue and achieve excellence in sports while furthering their educational, vocational skills and other aspect of their personal development.
- Improve the sporting abilities of Sierra Leoneans generally including the improvement of the standard of coaching in sports.
- Foster co-operation in sports between Sierra Leoneans and other countries
- To encourage and promote private sector sponsorship in sports.
