NSA Executive Director Pays Courtesy Visit to Sierra Leone National Commission for UNESCO

Executive Director of the National Sports Authority, Mohamed Alphaka Conteh, Esq., on Wednesday 3rd June 2026 paid a courtesy visit to the Secretary-General of the Sierra Leone National Commission for UNESCO at Tower Hill, Freetown.

Welcoming the new NSA Boss, Dr. Mohamed C. Kamanda congratulated the Executive Director and explained that the Commission serves as the liaison between UNESCO Headquarters and MDAs in the country, including the Ministries of Technical and Higher Education and Sports.

“The Commission has assisted NSA in the past, and we remain fully committed to continuing our collaboration for the furtherance of sports in the country. UNESCO is always ready to provide NSA with technical and expert advice on sports and its related activities in the country,” Dr. Kamanda said.

He described the role of NSA as central to the government of President Bio’s administration, emphasizing that sports is a major component of UNESCO’s mandate.

Responding, Mohamed Alphaka Conteh expressed gratitude to Dr. Kamanda and his team for their hospitality. He stated that, as an agency, NSA stands ready to work with the Commission. The Chief of the Authority requested Dr. Kamanda’s personal and the Commission’s support for the agency.

“NSA needs your support beyond anti-doping and the African Traditional Games and Sports. I wish to present myself to you as your younger brother for guidance and strategic direction,” Conteh said.

The Executive Director concluded by noting that the Ministry of Sports and the NSA will meet to develop project proposals for the Commission’s consideration and intervention.
