NSA Boss Gains Public Trust and Confidence in Sports Administration

Executive Director of the National Sports Authority, Mohamed Alphaka Conteh, Esq., is earning public trust and confidence for his leadership in developing, promoting, and advancing sports at the Authority.

Since his appointment by His Excellency Retired Brigadier Dr. Julius Maada Bio, Conteh has introduced key reforms at NSA. One priority he has introduced is maintaining decorum and strengthening the NSA’S working relationship with its supervisory Ministry, particularly with Minister Madam Augusta James-Teima.

Speaking on Friday, 22nd May 2026, at the Sierra Leone Football Association’s turning-of-the-sod ceremony for the new pavilion, the NSA Chief stated:

“I will not use the NSA Act 2017 to fight my supervisory Ministry and the Minister of Sports. I will not use the NSA Act as a show of power to create issues between and among the Ministry of Sports, NSA, and the rest of the sporting associations.”

Making his first public appearance in Freetown since his appointment, Conteh reaffirmed the NSA’s commitment to work closely with the Ministry of Sports and all sporting bodies, including the Sierra Leone Football Association, the National Olympic Committee, and the Commonwealth Games Association.

Since assuming office on 11th May 2026, the legal luminary has consistently told staff that his mandate is to uphold decorum, transparency, discipline, and professionalism across Sierra Leone’s sports ecosystem.

The NSA’S Chief praised the leadership of President Babadi Kamara and his team for their thrives in advancing sports competitions, infrastructural developments and engaging corporate institutions and private individuals to invest in football for youth empowerment which aligns with Government’s of President Bio’s Big Five Game Changers.
